When Hunter approached me about photographing the proposal to his girlfriend, he described what he wanted as "a guerilla style shoot".

He wanted to propose in a place with lots of flowers so we talked about where in the gardens he wanted to do it.

The day before the weather was looking rainy. We changed the plan to do all of this at the Conservatory which is a pretty greenhouse next to the rose garden. I would be waiting just outside the conservatory and I was to follow them in and catch the proposal in there. It wasn't raining too hard and I sat waiting on a bench there. When they arrived, Hunter surprised me and his girlfriend by proposing outside of the conservatory instead of inside. The guerilla tactics worked. She was so shocked. She also said YES!!

They had the full support from other Biltmore visitors that day. One in particular was a woman having a batchelorette party who passed on her "Bride to Be" sash to Brittany. It was so fun!
