Jerald contacted me to photograph his surprise proposal to Bridgett. He knew for sure that it had to be on Valentine's Day! They were coming in from out of town and he needed some suggestions on the best place to pop the question. He really wanted this to be special. We discussed a few options and I also checked the weather. It was looking to be cold and rainy. The closer to the day, the more cold and rain seemed to be in the forecast. We decided on The Grove Park Inn after their romantic lunch. That way, if it rained they could be dry and cozy near the fireplace.

On my drive there, it was pouring rain. It was so intense that my windshield wiper actually broke and came off!! I was determined to get there early and be ready for that amazing moment so I could capture it for them. I got to the parking lot and amazingly it had stopped raining! Yes! It was busy inside since it was Valentine's Day and it had been stormy out. I connected with Jerald and he decided to ask her to marry him out on the back stairs of the beautiful Sunset Terrace area. It was perfect! There was hardly anyone out there and Jerald had a little privacy to express his love. I captured these moments for him and even did some more portraits after Bridgett knew I was there.  When it was all over, I looked back up toward The Grove Park Inn, to see a quiet, supportive, masked audience who seemed very happy for my newly engaged couple. These are the kinds of things that make my heart feel full. I wish so much happiness for these two.
