What a beautiful wedding I got to be a part of on May Day this year!

Chris and Gen had been high school sweethearts long ago. They remained friends and after many years, they reunited. This was their wedding.

You could call it a micro-wedding or an elopement. They kept it small and intimate and meaningful.

The French Broad River which runs through Hot Springs is really important to both of them. They found a sweet cabin with a beautiful view of the river to celebrate their wedding.

I liked how they kept the event pretty calm and laid back while still having a lot of really personal touches.

The ceremony was on the back porch of the cabin overlooking the river. We were enjoying it there for awhile and then we made our way to the river.

I really love what they did at the river. Chris made a handmade raft. While at the river's edge, they honored all the loved ones who were no longer with them who they wished could be there. For each one, they said a few words and then added flowers to the raft. When all of the words were said, they let the raft go and it floated away down the river. It was so beautiful.

Another nice touch was that Chris' son played soft acoustic guitar pretty much the entire time, even later at the river.

I love how they incorporated nature so well into their special day too! After our time at the river, they headed over to their favorite brewery there in Hot Springs and opened up the celebration to more of their friends. It was a pleasure working with Genevre and Chris!
