Asheville Historic Grove Arcade

Many years ago, I lived in Providence, RI. There was a historic building there called, The Arcade. I did an internship there and found out it was the oldest indoor shopping mall in the country. When I moved to Asheville back in 2005, I discovered The Grove Arcade. It looked exactly the same as the Arcade I knew from Providence and I realized there was a Providence/ Asheville connection there. I have always had a fondness for this building.

Jeffery contacted me because he wanted to propose to his girlfriend while they were on a trip to Asheville.

The weekend they were coming into town was calling for lots of rain.  Jeffery made the decision to propose at an indoor location. He decided on The Grove Arcade.

It was my first time photographing at The Grove Arcade, so I got there early and scoped out the scene. I decided to stay upstairs for the surprise so it wouldn't be obvious.

I was stationed upstairs somewhat behind a planter and looking though the leaves of a potted plant. I watched them walk in. They strolled around and went in and out of a shop. Then I saw our signal! They got together for a selfie.

I quickly ran over to get closer! Jeffery got down on his knee and proposed! Mallory happily accepted! Yes! She said YES!
