Intimate Micro Adventure Wedding Wedding at Craggy Gardens | Asheville Photographer
It had rained all day long, but the forecast called for the rain to stop before our evening adventure wedding at Craggy Gardens. The forecast was correct and everything went according to plan. My beautiful bride and groom came prepared for any outcome though.
There is just something awesome that the clouds do after a rain in these mountains. We had an amazing fog show that evening. It made for a gorgeous and mysterious backdrop for this small wedding.
When my beautiful bride asked if it would be ok to bring her katana, I had to google what that was. A Japanese sword?? Yes! Let's do it. She just got her 4th degree black belt and the sword was a gift from the groom. I was so ready to work that sword into some portraits. Little did I know, our darling groom brought his chef's knife as well. We had a lot of fun with that!
The ceremony was small and intimate and included the immediate family of the bride and groom. The bride shared a story on the hike up to the ceremony. This is how she knew that Craggy Gardens was the place they were destined to be married. I had given them a few different location suggestions to check out. The day they checked out this location, the weather happened to be stormy (wind, ice, flurries..that kind of thing.) The Blue Ridge Parkway was closed in that section. They decided to hike an alternative route to get there due to the road closure. They didn't realize that it was about 5 miles just to get to the start of the trail. They forgot water and snacks. When they finally arrived at the trail, my bride was exhausted and thirsty. She collapsed to the ground to rest. My lovely groom told her to wait there while he continued up the trail to check out the Craggy Gardens area. While he was gone, she prayed that there would be some kind of snack bar at the top. There was not. However, he loved it! It didn't stop there though. While he was up there, he found a super large water bottle (holds maybe 2 gallons) and it was full of water!!! He happily hiked back down to my bride. She was astonished! As they drank the water, they noticed that the brand name of the bottle was MANNA. That was it! They took that as a sign that this was where they needed to be for their wedding.
They were able to incorporate the MANNA bottle into the ceremony and drank from it there.
What a beautiful, sweet wedding. I didn't want to leave when it was over. That family is full of love and kindness. Best of luck to Rachel & Daniel! May your union be blessed.
